Daniel S. Goldberg
President and Chief Executive Officer
Daniel S. Goldberg became President and Chief Executive Officer of Telesat in September 2006. Prior to joining Telesat, Mr. Goldberg served as Chief Executive Officer of SES New Skies, a position he held since March 2006 following the purchase of New Skies by SES Global. During that time, Mr. Goldberg also served as a member of the SES Global Executive Committee.
In 2002, Mr. Goldberg served as the Chief Executive Officer of New Skies Satellites and was President and a member of the New Skies Satellites Holdings board of directors since its formation in January 2005. Mr. Goldberg was also a managing director and a member of the executive management committee formed by New Skies Satellites. Prior to becoming its Chief Executive Officer, he had served as Chief Operating Officer of New Skies since February 2000, and prior to that time, he had served as New Skies General Counsel since October 1998.
During 1998, prior to joining New Skies, Mr. Goldberg worked at PanAmSat as the Associate General Counsel and Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Goldberg was an associate at Goldberg, Godles, Wiener & Wright, a law firm in Washington D.C.
He obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, graduating with the highest honours, and earned a law degree from Harvard Law School, where he graduated cum laude.
Paul Bush
Vice President, North American Sales
As Vice President Sales for North America, Mr. Bush and his team are responsible for the leasing of satellite transponder capacity, sales of network infrastructure services, and the further development of Telesat’s North American fleet.
Mr. Bush has held a number of key positions at Telesat during his 27 years with the company, principally in marketing and sales. He has guided Telesat's growth in the US and Latin America, and led the planning for the Nimiq, Anik F and the new Anik G satellite program. He also held the position, Director of Business Development & Alliances, where he was responsible for securing management approval and then implementing Telesat’s direct broadcast satellite (DBS) strategy for Canada.
Mr. Bush is a satellite industry expert in IP communications and telephony, including system design and specification/ procurement of integrated voice, data and video networks. He has held a number of positions on Canadian corporate and institutional boards, including: Television Northern Canada, Canada’s SchoolNet, the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA), The SpaceConnection, Inc., Auroras Entertainment LLC, and the 2010 BCE Olympic Technology Board.
Mr. Bush’s affiliations and years of experience in the satellite services industry have enabled him to have a central role in shaping the development and deployment of information and communications technologies for broadcasters across Canada. He has a degree in Health Science from the University of Ottawa, and a degree in Education from Queen’s University.
Pat Enright
Vice President, Network Services
Mr. Enright joined Telesat Canada in 1981, and held progressively responsible management positions until being appointed Vice-President, Network Services in 2003. As Vice President, Network Services, Mr. Enright is responsible for engineering, operations and maintenance of Telesat’s satellite earth station infrastructure internationally.
Mr. Enright holds a diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology from Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology. He is a graduate of the Western Executive Program, University of Western Ontario, as well as a graduate of the Executive Management Development Program from the Banff Centre for Management.
Michel Cayouette
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Michel Cayouette is responsible for all corporate financial matters, treasury, procurement and risk management. Mr. Cayouette joined Telesat from Gordon Blake, LLC where he was Managing Partner.
Mr. Cayouette has more than 15 years of experience in the global telecommunications industry, having held senior finance positions at companies in North America, Europe and Asia. Mr. Cayouette has served as CFO at various companies, including Teleglobe Communications Corporation, Orbcomm Global, TIW Asia, and FLAG Telecom. His past responsibilities have included finance, operations, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate strategy.
Mr. Cayouette is a chartered accountant and a certified public accountant. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Montreal (École des Hautes Études Commerciales).
Richard L. Mortellaro
Vice President, International Sales
Mr. Mortellaro has held the position of Vice President of Global Sales for Loral Skynet Corporation for the past 11 years. Prior to that, a satellite industry veteran, he previously served in senior sales positions at Loral Orion as vice President of Satellite Services, where he oversaw the development of the company and later assisted in the integration of Loral Cyberstar into Loral Skynet. Prior to joining Loral Orion, Mr. Mortellaro worked at Intelsat as Director of Broadcast Sales for Occasional Use Television and Special Events. Prior to joining Intelsat, Mr. Mortellaro spent 6 years in Commercial Broadcasting where he served as Promotion Director.
Mr. Mortellaro holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Michael C. Schwartz
Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development
Mr. Schwartz is responsible for Marketing and Business and Corporate Development for Telesat. He joined Telesat from SES New Skies, where he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development, a position he held since March 2006 following the purchase of New Skies Satellites by SES.
Prior to joining New Skies Satellites, Mr. Schwartz served as Chief Development and Financial Officer of Terabeam Corporation (Terabeam), responsible for business and corporate development as well as financial operations. He was a Co-founder and President of an Internet infrastructure company, which was sold in December 2000. He also held two senior positions at AT&T Wireless Services, the latter as Vice President of Acquisitions and Development.
Mr. Schwartz graduated magna cum laude in Physics from Harvard University in 1986 and magna cum laude in Law from Harvard University in 1991.
David Wendling
Vice President, Space Systems
A 21-year veteran of the satellite industry, David Wendling has been appointed Vice President of Telesat’s Space Systems Department. Mr. Wendling is responsible for the design, procurement, launch and operation of Telesat’s satellites, as well as the development and management of Telesat’s international consulting business which encompasses the operation of customer satellites, satellite consulting, and the provision of transfer orbit services.
Since joining Telesat in 1986, Mr. Wendling has held a variety of key positions within the Space Systems Department. As Director of the Satellite Control Division he was responsible for operating Telesat satellites and designing, developing, and procuring the Satellite Control ground segment. He was also responsible for the development, management and delivery of three of Telesat’s international consulting business lines: Transfer Orbit Services, 3rd Party Satellite Operations and the provisioning of Satellite Control Facilities.
Mr. Wendling holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
